ADB content with development drive in Sri Lanka

The Asian Development Bank Executive Director Mr. Jaejung Song on a felicitation visit to Sri Lanka met Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning and Senior Advisor to the President Dr. Sarath Amunugama at the Ministry Office recently to discuss matters pertaining to development projects in Sri Lanka.
Detailing the development activities in Sri Lanka, Dr. Amunugama said that Asian Development Bank assistance has contributed on a large scale to energize the government's development drive.
In response to a question raised by Dr. Amunugama whether there are snags in constructing the Southern Highway project, Mr. Song said that the construction work in one section is doing well but the other section is staggering to a certain extent due to few reasons.
He also said that he had visited the new fish market and port. The progress in those sectors is satisfactory, he said.
During 2010 Asian Development Bank has contributed approximately US $ 450 million on development projects in Sri Lanka chiefly to develop the road network in the dilapidated North and East.Asian Development Bank Country Director Richard Vokes and External Resources Deportment, Director General, Mr. J.H.J. Jayamaha also participated the discussion.
