Continuing its efforts to build Sri Lanka’s micro business sector, lotteries innovator Mahapola Lotto has launched a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at trishaw drivers.

Named ‘Diviyata Diriya’ (Courage for Life), this groundbreaking initiative offers local trishaw drivers the opportunity to quickly set up and operate Mahapola Lotto dealerships with the initial investment borne by Mahapola Lotto. This programme was officially launched recently, at the state-of-the-art Borella Mahapola Lotto Centre, where trishaws related to this CSR initiative were handed over to programme participants.

As part of the opening phase of this unique CSR venture, Mahapola Lotto will handover trishaws owned by the company to early joiners of its Diviyata Diriya programme. It is also noteworthy that these trishaws are being offered free of charge, without a lease or any other type of upfront payment required, so that budding micro entrepreneurs from lower income backgrounds will have access to the opportunities needed to succeed in life.

Going forward, the main goal of the Mahapola Lotto Diviyata Diriya micro business initiative will be long-term contributions of free-of-charge micro entrepreneur kits, including Mahapola Lotto ticketing machines (terminals), Mahapola Lotto branding and top-up vouchers to programme participants, all of which will be free of charge. Thus, allowing them to begin their micro businesses started in the right way, with the best chance of success. So, virtually from the start-up stage, these micro-entrepreneurs will be able to earn a sustainable revenue stream, from selling Mahapola Lotto tickets through this novel concept.

Diviyata Diriya is a first-of-its-kind micro-entrepreneur project in the local lotteries sector and Mahapola Lotto is extremely proud to be a pioneer for projects of this nature, where the beneficiaries are members of the Sri Lankan micro business communities.
