Janashakthi sponsors traffic warden uniforms for five schools in Nuwara Eliya

Showcasing its commitment towards traffic safety, Janashakthi Insurance recently stepped forward to provide five schools in the Nuwara Eliya District with special traffic warden uniforms, as a pilot project.
The new outfits use reflective colours so that the traffic wardens are visible to motorists from between 50 to 100 yards away even in misty weather conditions.
Janashakthi employees created the uniforms following an urgent community need communicated to them by school principals and police in the area.
“Schools often use their own students as traffic wardens at pedestrian crossings, collaborating with police. The uniforms we have provided the wardens are reflective, ensuring that they are easily visible even in the mist. So the wardens can now carry out their duties without fear. We also wanted to give the wardens an official dress code to introduce a sense of pride among the students nominated,” said Janashakthi Insurance Manager Brands Activation Kelum Weerasinghe.
Janashakthi created the uniforms following a request from Nuwara Eliya Traffic OIC SI G.G. Seneviratne. Students from Girls’ High School Nuwara Eliya, Gamini Central College, Bambarakelle Central College and Meepilimana Maha Vidyalaya as well as the Nuwara Eliya town received the uniforms.

Janashakthi is looking to extend the project to other areas in the country as well and is conducting research in collaboration with school principals and the police in this regard.
In the past, Janashakthi has consistently extended their support towards various community projects, from giving the gift of sight to the visually impaired to kidney screening projects and improving the water quality in the Maha Oya area.
