National Development Bank (NDB) Plc has taken the initiative to promote environment literacy through progarmmes in Rural schools in partnership with the Biodiversity & Elephant Conservation Trust (BECT) for the third consecutive year.
This programme will be carried out in 100 schools building awareness on environmental conservation including bio-diversity and wildlife whilst creating consciousness towards being a ‘green leader’ where the children themselves are encouraged to influence and encourage others to conserve the environment and adopt environmental best practices.

The Biodiversity and Elephant Conservation Trust (BECT) in Sri Lanka formed in 1998, is a nonprofitorganization, which is active in conservation of elephants in Sri Lanka and its biodiversity. The BECT works with the Sri Lanka Government and conservation organizations both in Sri Lankan and abroad.
