A ceremony to celebrate the indigenous people’s day was held  at Kotabakiniya in Dambana today. Veddah Chief, Uruvarigelage Vanniyale Ettho said when the World Indigenous Peoples’ Day is just round the corner, many organizations would be formed under the pretext of making the Vedda community happy. He also said that mushroom organizations pretending to uplift the indigenous people, had only robbed the Vedda community of their entitlements. Pix by Pradeep Pathirana
