Ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky holds the Olympic flame after lighting the cauldron during the 2010 Winter Olympic opening ceremony in downtown Vancouver. The identity of the athlete who had the honor of lighting the cauldron at the culmination of the opening ceremony was a tightly-guarded secret although polls showed ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky was favorite among Canadians.
