Sapugaskanda: Pipeline repairs in progress

Technicians are seen repairing the broken hose used to pump crude oil to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery (SOR) from the tanker. The resumption of operations at the country’s only oil refinery was further delayed as the hose broke down.

The SOR, that refines 50,000 barrels of crude oil a day had to be closed down because of the non-availability of crude oil as the ship that was supposed to bring crude oil got delayed and the Petroleum Industries Ministry had to call for fresh tenders to obtain one million barrels of crude oil for the refinery from Oman. The tanker arrived on Sunday. Picture courtesy Minister of Petroleum Industries
