May day rallies 2014

The Nelum Pokuna Mawatha will be closed from 9.00 a.m.; the Baseline Road from Ingram Junction to Borella Junction will be closed from 11.00 a.m. the Horton Place, the Road from Nelum Pokuna roundabout to D.S. Senanayake Mawatha Junction, the road from D.S Junction to Borella Junction will be closed from 12 noon.

Vehicles heading towards Negombo from Havelock Place should use the JOC roundabout, Flower Road, Kollupitiya Junction, through Olcott Mawatha to Amour Street and then to Negombo over the Victoria Bridge.

The United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will start its May Day rally from Nelum Pokuna Mawatha and will go through Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Horton Place, D S Junction and through Baseline Road up to Campbell Park.

Its affiliated parties Sri Lanka Mahajana Party (SLMP), Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) and the National Freedom Party (NFF) will join the main procession from Maradana, D.S. Senanayake junction and Dematagoda.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will begin its May Day rally from Sri Saranankara Road and will go through Pamankada, Stafford Avenue, Kirulapona, Maya roundabout to BRC Grounds.

The Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) will begin its May Day rally from Navagampura Grounds and will walk through Kosgas Junction, Jethawana Road and Christy Perera Road to Ratnam Grounds.

The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) will have its May Day rally at the G.H Buddhadasa Grounds.

Trade Union Federation and Ceylon Banking Employees Union will go through Fort, Chiththampalam Gardiner Road, Slave Island, Nippon Hotel road and up to Hyde Park through Ibbanwala Junction.
