Marusira’s widow visits Bogambara

Among the thousands that visited Bogambara Prison after it was opened for public viewing was 70-year-old widow of notorious criminal ‘Maru Sira’ who was hanged at the Bogambara prison in the mid 70’s.

Those who visited Bogambara Prisons today were surprised to see Ranmenika making her way to have a glimpse of the prison cell where her husband was reported to have spent his last days on earth being sent to the gallows which was one of the popular sights among the visitors.

With tears streaming down her cheeks, she is reported to have cried out saying ‘Siripala has left me’, probably reminiscing the days gone by when she saw her husband’s prison cell.

On being shown the gallows she had inquired, “Is this where Siripala was hanged.
