Video: 'Kora Aliya' tranquilized

A wild elephant, known as 'Kora Aliya' that has turned a great threat to the safety of residents in several villages of the Ampara district was tranquilized by Wildlife Department officials this morning in order to be transported to Pinnawala.
Veterinary surgeons Dr. Vijitha Perera and Dr. Pramuditha had tranquilized the animal that was running rampant in the villages of Kunduwatuwana, Paragahakale and Inidurawa, incurring great losses to the crops in the areas. The elephant -famously known in the areas as the ‘Kora Aliya’ as a result of a limp on one of its legs, is due to be treated at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.Pix and video by Wasantha Chandrapala
