Balapitiyia PS dispute over contract system

A tense atmosphere prevailed during a monthly meeting of the Balapitiya PS last morning (10) due to an augment between the Chairman and the Vice Chairman over a proposal to do away with the contract system and to implement projects by employing laborers.

Vice Chairman Sarath Samarajeewa de Silva accused Chairman Dayaratna De Silva of not including the proposals in the agenda.  The altercation led to a chaotic situation that delayed the proceedings, however the meeting resumed after the members intervened and settled the dispute.
