The 25 star tortoises seized in transit during a raid at Pahalayaha area by the Pallam Police were handed over to the Wildlife Conservation Department officers who released them into the Thabbowa sanctuary this afternoon. The tortoises was being transported by van when the police carried out the raid and seized them. The suspects who were taken into custody were from Madawakkulama, Kalutara and Beruwala areas. They were to be produced before the Anamaduwa magistrate this afternoon. Pix by Hiran Priyankara
