Fuel removal completed

The removal of fuel from the cargo vessel ‘Sri Lanka Glory’, which was in distress off the Rumassala Coast due to gusty winds, has been completed, the Marine Environment Protection Authority said.

Deputy Manager of the Southern Province Marine Environment Protection Authority, Renuka Ranaweera, said a total of 22 tonnes of fuel had been removed from the vessel.

The vessel which belongs to an Indian company was carried away by the gusty winds when it was anchored in the outer harbour in Galle. Pix by D.G. Sugathapala
