Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has embarked on a fresh initiative to promote the island nation’s wildlife on a virtual platform.

In an effort to connect with local and international travellers by capitalising on technology, SLTPB aims to offer the unique experience through live-streaming sessions.

The agency said it will partner with the private sector to push the agenda forward where the exotic wildlife and natural habitats will be showcased by live-streaming the national parks of the country.

SLTPB shared that the initiative would help the local tourism sector maintain its top of the mind awareness among the travellers, while also placing itself as a diversity driven unique experience with an aspirational positioning.

It added that the new project is also expected to enhance Sri Lanka’s digital footprint and to build on its social media reach.

“As Sri Lanka Tourism takes a shift in focus from value to experience driven, ‘wildlife’ streaming will be an important measure to reposition and to reinforce the message,” SLTPB said.

Sharing further insights with Mirror Business, the SLTPB said despite the imposition of  travel restrictions due to the ongoing global pandemic, the virtual safari's would allow travel and wildlife enthusiasts to continue to enjoy the unique and diverse experience of Sri Lanka.

To be telecasted via the agency’s social media channels on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, the live-streaming will cover Yala , Minneriya, Kaudulla and Udawalawa national parks.

The project aims to have eight wildlife streaming video sessions of one hour each and will be interactive.
