Close associates of COVID-19 patient from Hirdaramani Kahathuduwa facility tests negative

PCR tests of over 250 close associates of the COVID-19 positive employee at Hirdaramani Kahathuduwa facility have come out negative, the management of the apparel manufacturer said.

Confirming that the associate who tested positive on 18 October is currently being treated under the supervision of Health authorities and is in stable condition, the Hirdaramani management announced that tests carried out on individuals identified to be in close contact of the employee are all negative so far.

“We can confirm that all the test results were negative for COVID-19. The entire process of identification of the initial patient, who attended a wedding in the Divulapitiya area, contact tracing, and PCR testing were conducted under the close supervision and monitoring of the Kahathuduwa Medical Officer of Health and his staff,” Hirdaramani Group management said in a statement to the media today.

It added that the group is working closely with the government and Public Health Authorities, to ensure that stringent measures are enforced at all of its facilities to contain and prevent any further transmission of the virus.

Hirdaramani reiterated that the group continues to maintain firm adherence to all guidelines, protocols, and directives issued by the relevant Government and Public Health Authorities.

“Our priority lies in the health, safety, and dignity of all of our employees, and we humbly request that due respect is given to the privacy of the diagnosed,” it stated.
