YMF awards first batch of Speechcrafters

The Young Members Forum (YMF) awarded certificates for the first batch of its Speechcrafters who underwent ‘Speechcraft’ training, conducted at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC).

Nineteen youngsters, who underwent training under this programme, which was conducted by the Smedley Toastmasters Club and sponsored by Hatton National Bank (HNB), was awarded at a special ceremony held recently at the Royal College Union. They received the certificate from Toastmaster International.

The chief guest of the event was CCC Chairman Samantha Ranathunga. The other distinguished invitees were CCC Secretary General and CEO Mangala P.B. Yapa and Smedley Toastmasters Club Immediate Past President Toastmaster Sandun Fernando.

The 11-week programme touched on important ‘Speechcraft’ topics such as ‘Speechcraft Meeting’, ‘The Ice Breaker’, ‘Introducing a Speaker’, ‘Organise your speech’, ‘Get to the Point’ ‘Evaluate the Speaker’ and ‘Your Body Speaks’, etc.

This was the first-ever programme initiated by the YMF and it hopes to continue this in the future with the intention of forming the YMF Toastmasters Club.
