Western College holds first Annual Graduation

Western College for Management and Technology held its first annual graduation at the BMICH under the patronage of the Chief Guest the Assistant Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton UK, William Webster, and the Guest of Honour Director Manufacturing of the Associated Motorways, Pushpika Janadeera recently. 
The convocation was also graced by Academic partnership manager (UoB), Christine Grant, and Partnership Relations Manager (UoB) Fozia Uddin, and very senior academics in the country. 
Students were awarded Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Bolton, UK and Higher National Diploma in Business from Pearson Edexcel UK.
While congratulating the graduates for their outstanding achievements, Assistant Vice Chancellor, William Webster stated, “Our University has been celebrating 190 years of history as an education institution for the past year. Throughout those 190 years we have focused on education for man and women with their hearts and minds firmly set on their future careers.” 
In his message the Chief Executive Officer Eranga Weeramanthri drew attention to several important aspects of modern tertiary education such as employability that needs to be in par with socioeconomic advancement of the country.  Addressing the gathering Pushpika Janadheera emphasized that “New graduates will find themselves very well equipped to meet the challenges of employment, and he is confident that the unique blend of academic and professional development which they have undergone at Western College will place them in good stead as their career develops”
In this event 20 MBA and 11 Higher National Diploma in Business graduates were presented with their certificates. Gold Awards for the Best Performance at Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 was presented by the Assistant Vice Chancellor to R.P.D. Ayodhya Seneviratne and T.Suwimali Ondantjie. The Gold award for the Best Performance in BTEC Edexcel Higher National Diploma in Business was deserved by H.L.A. Krishmali De Silva.
Western College for Management & Technology Sri Lanka was established in February 2012 as a part of an international collaboration with links to a wide range of reputed universities in the UK. 
The Western College is a BOI approved venture, and is a part of the Kartha Education Society (KES) Group of Institutions, which is a global education group. KES has significant experience in delivering transnational education across India, the UAE, and in Sri Lanka through Western College. 
Western College has excellent teaching resources including the state -the art - classrooms with the Internet & data projectors, well equipped computer laboratory with internet access, Wi-Fi hotspots and a well managed library to facilitate independent, group and classroom learning. These syndicate learning facilities encourages students to work together and gain new knowledge while enhancing their soft skills such as team working, problem solving, analytical and presentation skills.
