Uva Highlands sets all-time record price for Uva BOPF grade

At the Colombo Tea Auctions held on 2nd September, Uva Highlands Estate had the distinction of establishing an all time record price of Rs.1350- per kilo for a BOPF grade from the Uva Planting District. 
Uva Highlands tea garden is situated in the Uva hills of the Uva province of Sri Lanka between Bandarawela and Ettampitiya main road 12 kilo meters away from Bandarawela town.  The elevation of this estate is between 1219-1250 meters (4100 feet) above sea level.
The total extent of Uva Highlands estate is 400 hectares of which the cultivated extent is 335 hectares.
The annual production of tea of the estate is around one million kilos.
The first planter of Uva Highlands Estate was Jainudeen who was in-charge from  1915 to 1925, and at present comes under the stewardship of the Executive Director Estates Manique Goudian (since 1995). Uva Highlands Estate is managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC.
