Union Assurance awards ‘Loku Wunaama Mama’ art competition winners

A special prize giving ceremony was held recently to recognise the winners of the ‘Loku Wunaama Mama’ art competition. This was held to coincide with the Union Assurance Higher Education Month. 

The Higher Education Month was an initiative organised by Union Assurance, in order to stress the importance of preparing for children’s higher education needs. 

The ‘Loku Wunaama Mama’ art competition was organised by the company as a creative way to elicit and express the ambitions and hopes of children through a fun and colourful medium. The competition was open to children from March 1, 2015 to April 30, 2015. The competition was adjudicated for three categories: Preschool, Grade 1-3 and Grade 4-6. The winners in each category were awarded tablet computers and in addition consolation prizes were also given to 10 shortlisted candidates in each category. 

A number of applications were received from schools and preschools islandwide. The winners in the Preschool category is K.A.J. Shenuli Shehansa from Little Tots Preschool, Rajagiriya; in the Grade 1-3 category, O.G.T. Sinali Ovitigama from Kumara College, Balangoda; and in the Grade 4-6 category, K. Savindu Migara Fernando from Maristella College, Negombo.  The programme was a tremendous success and received a number of accolades from parents who attended the prize giving ceremony.  

The aim of Union Assurance is to build a foundation of ‘trust,’ by guaranteeing the delivery of transparency, respect and convenience towards all its stakeholders. Through the successful completion of the Union Assurance Higher Education Month, Union Assurance was able to emphasise the importance of providing ahead for your child’s education needs.
