‘Sri Lanka’s Global Economic Strategy’ to be discussed at Economic Summit

23 June 2015 02:34 am

Upcoming ‘Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2015’, the country’s top economic forum held annually, will discuss the importance of establishing ‘A New Global Economic Strategy For Sri Lanka’.

This would be one out of a series of important topics that is slated to be addressed during the eight sessions of the forum, which will see the participation of top economists, policymakers and sector professionals as resource persons.

Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka Chairman Dr. Razeen Sally will deliver the keynote session at the second session of the event, which will discuss this topic.

Dr. Sally’s address would be followed by a panel discussion with the participation of the likes of Policy Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva, National Development Bank Vice President Treasury Niran Mahawatte, Economic Consultant Anushka Wijesinha and York Street Partners Senior Advisor Eric Rajendra. JB Securities (Private) Limited Managing Director Murtaza Jafferjee will be the ‘moderator’ of the session.

The topic ‘Sri Lanka’s Global Economic Strategy’ comes at a time when the country, with so much of potential behind it, such as its strategic location and human development fundamentals, is lagging behind competitor economies in Asia, as the nation’s economic structure does not provide the framework for high and sustainable growth.
