Sri Lanka’s 2016 expenditure estimated at Rs.3, 138 bn

Sri Lanka’s total spending for the next year is estimated at Rs.3, 138 billion and the estimated revenue is Rs.1, 789 billion inclusive of foreign grants.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka will have to bridge Rs.1349 billion deficit with foreign and domestic loans.
Cabinet Spokesperson and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said the estimates were arrived at following discussions held with relevant ministries, provincial councils and other parties, based on the total resources that can be obtained in the financial year 2016.
He said the proposal made by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayke to table the Appropriation Bill for the year 2016 in Parliament on October 23 was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
