With Sri Lanka’s elite eager to gather at next month’s “Governor’s Cup” horse racing derby, the island’s own “Royal Ascot”, with all the pomp and pageantry it entails, textile industry leader South Asia Textiles Industries (Lanka) Private Limited is proud to come forward and do its part in continuing this long-standing tradition of equine showmanship and excellence.
To be held at the picturesque Turf Club Race Course in Nuwara Eliya, on April 15, the “Governor’s Cup” is a long-time fixture in Sri Lanka’s social calendar, a legacy stemming from colonial times. The derby will feature, as in year’s past, a number of social gatherings, from a champagne brunch and a fashion show, to a formal evening gala.
Elaborating further, Prithiv Dorai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of South Asia Textiles Industries (Lanka) Private Limited, the principal sponsor of many of the events to be held within the scope of the “Governor’s Cup”, commented, “We are pleased to be given the opportunity to interact with not only Sri Lanka’s high society but also its corporate elite and key decision makers. It is also important to realise that, over the years, the ‘Governor’s Cup’ has evolved from a mere social gathering to a high profile networking event, so we are appreciative of the chance to aid in this meet-and-greet that is sure to benefit a number of medium and large enterprises over the coming months.”
