SLT ‘Sisu Damseriya’ essay competition winners collect prizes

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) in its bid to boost knowledge among school children and mould them into becoming useful citizens in society under the programme titled ‘Sisu Damseriya’, organised an essay competition during the Vesak festival on the theme ‘Our responsibility towards building a righteous society’. The winners were presented with their prizes recently.
The response for the essay competition, which was held in two categories – one for students under 12 years and the others for over 12 – was overwhelming.
The winners were selected by a renowned academic panel presided over by University of Colombo Sinhala Department Senior Lecturer Ven. Professor Agalakada Siri Sumana Thera.
In each category, the first prize winners got a cash award of Rs.25,000 each and the winners of the second and third places were awarded Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 each, respectively. There were also five consolation prizes of Rs.5,000/ each in each category along
with certificates.
The Junior category winners were: First – S.R.N.S. Wijesundera-Demataluwa Maha Vidyalaya, Second – M.I. Ebrahim-T.B. Jayah Zahira College, Colombo 2, Third – Pujani Sahanya Jayasuriya-Visakha Vidyalaya, Sapugaskanda, Consolation – Hasintha Vidhuranga Gunawardana-President’s College, Minuwangoda, Kalani Madhuvanthi Wijesekara-Girls’ High School, Nuwara Eliya, Nimesha Nethmini Kulatunge-St Joseph’s Girls’ School, Nugegoda, Supul Saneth Dassanayake-D S Senanayake Model School, Anuradhapura, Chethana Madhubhashini-Girls’ High School, Nuwara Eliya.
The Senior category winners were : First – Jalani Seneviratne Menike-Southlands College, Galle, Second – Nuwan Sriyantha Bandara-Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Third – Chamodi Vindya Wijesinghe-Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala, Consolation – Umasha Chamodi Sirisena-St Anthony’s Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura, Dilini Upekhsha-Welanhinna Vidyalaya, Haputale, Gihani Chathurya-Rahula Balika Vidyalaya, Malabe, Avishka Nimanthi Samarajeewa-Ananda Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Elpitiya, Chamodi Nuwanmali- Dharmapala Maha Vidyalya, Katukurunda.
