Roshan Motha appointed PFAN Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives

The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN), which is a multilateral, public-private partnership initiated by the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI), in cooperation with the UNFCCC Expert Group on Technology Transfer, have appointed D.S Roshan Motha as the Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. 
PFAN operates to bridge the gap between investments and clean energy businesses, while CTI PFAN is designed to be an “open source” network to fit seamlessly with existing global and regional initiatives and to be inclusive of all stakeholders with an interest in clean energy financing. CTI PFAN’s goals are to accelerate technology transfer and diffusion under the UNFCCC, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote low-carbon, sustainable economic development, and help facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy by increasing financing opportunities for promising clean energy projects. CTI PFAN accomplishes this by building a network of investors, entrepreneurs, technical experts and government representatives with a common goal of increasing the viability of clean and renewable energy .
CTI PFAN develops partnerships in each new country in order to build and expand a local in-country presence for CTI PFAN and the services it offers.

Since starting operations in 2006, CTI PFAN has developed regional networks covering Latin America, Asia, Africa and CIS as well as in-country networks of developers and investors.
The CTI Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) identifies promising clean energy projects at an early stage and provides mentoring for development of a business plan, investment pitch, and growth strategy, significantly enhancing the possibility of financial closure. CTI PFAN screens business plans, selects the most economically viable and environmentally beneficial projects, and provides extensive coaching and guidance before projects are presented to investors at Clean Energy Financing Forums hosted across Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Over 222 clean energy projects have been inducted into the CTI PFAN Project Development Pipeline. These projects include biogas, biomass, waste to energy, clean transport, wind, solar, small hydro and energy efficiency initiatives. 44 projects have successfully achieved financial closure with over US$540 million of investment raised. Combined, these projects have the potential to mitigate over 2 million tons of CO2e per year and provide over 346 MW of Clean Generation Capacity.
Since the appointment of Motha as the Sri Lankan Country Manager, 12 such proposals have been submitted of which 2 are nearing completion. Meanwhile, AFCEF-6 (Asia Forum for Clean Energy Financing) was held in Bangkok, Thailand on the 2nd of September 2015 where two Sri Lankan projects were chosen for Finance. The ADB and USAID were participants in the Forum.
