Ranil De Silva appointed as Singer Sri Lanka Director

Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC recently announced the appointment of D.T. Ranil De Silva to the company’s board of directors as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from April 1, 2015. 
De Silva already serves on the boards of the associate companies of Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC, namely Singer Industries (Ceylon) PLC and Regnis (Lanka) PLC. He is also the Managing Director of Serendib Hotels PLC and holds directorships in Dolphin Hotels PLC and Hotel Sigiriya PLC.
De Silva is a well-respected industry professional with wide experience locally in diverse industries. Previously he held leadership roles as the Group CEO of Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (DCSL), one of Sri Lanka’s top conglomerates, as the Director/CEO, Comfortwear (Pvt.) Ltd, a leading lingerie manufacturer for global brands under the Brandix umbrella, and as the Head of Finance of Sathosa Retail Ltd, Sri Lanka’s largest retail outlet chain.
His overseas experience as the Deputy General Manager/Head of Finance and Controlling at Sika Gulf BSC Bahrain, a subsidiary of the world leader in the field of construction chemicals, has added another dimension to Silva’s already impressive career.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK, Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. De Silva is also an Executive Committee member of the Hotel Association of Sri Lanka. 
He began his professional career at Ernst & Young where he served as a Senior Manager. De Silva was also the Vice Captain of the cricket team at his alma mater St. Joseph’s College.
