Quebee Den (Pvt) Limited’s Founder and CEO, Rohanthi Wijewickrama has won “The Best Entrepreneur Award” for Small scale Industries 2014/ 2015 which was held recently at the 5th Professional &Career Women Awards hosted by the Women in Management (WIM) organization.The WIM recognizes the untiring efforts of Sri Lanka’s women in leadership and their innovative entrepreneurial achievements contributing significantly to society and the country’s development.
The award was presented by Minister Chandrani Bnadara Minister for Women Affairs,. Grete Lochan Ambassador of Norway and Rachna Korhonen Embassy of United States of America.The young entrepreneur impressed the judges with her “bellybees” infant food range that has taken the country by storm bringing healthy and nutritional food for the growing child. She recently expanded her range into many blends that are currently available in the market.
“What motivated me was the need and the desire from a consumer’s perspective, of what I felt that was not being addressed. Safe and healthy environment for children should be the prime concern. So that’s what QBD’s ethos is all about which is developing a safe and healthy environment and how it affects the human health and the wellbeing of a very venerable child,” said Rohanthi, Founder and CEO of Quebee Den (Pvt) Ltd.
“Winning the Best Entrepreneur Award is an honour but, doesn’t mean my job is done, I feel like it is only the beginning. When I created the QBD business model, it always came back to one point which is, sustenance of life. People need to come first before profit and only then you will succeed. I look at my kids and that’s where I find my drive and my inspiration is,” Wijewickrama added.
