Performing Arts sector tipped to attract Foreign Direct Investments

Film, teledrama & stage play producer Dr. Arosha Fernando is focusing on developing all three sectors of the performing arts in Sri Lanka as an industry, to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in future. 

During the past few years, he has been proactively working towards uplifting the local cinema industry, and plans to establish 60 new movie theatres in 30 strategic locations in the island using Rs. 850 million worth Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as stage 1 of the project. 

Dr. Arosha is also working towards establishing a full fledge theatre for stage plays including a drama school with an initial investment estimated around Rs. 150 million from another FDI.

Within a period of 3 years Dr. Arosha Fernando has produced six movies, four teledramas and two stage dramas to his credit, and has been recognized as the producer who has produced highest number of creations within a shortest time frame in Sri Lanka contributing to all the 3 sectors of performing arts. Three movies were screened, two teledramas were telecasted and remaining creations will be launched in the coming 18 months.
