People Bank’s 2.7mn shares in Asiri Hospitals change hands

Asiri Hospitals Holdings PLC yesterday saw 2.7 million of its shares at Rs.25 cross at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday, which happens to be the exact stake of the entity held by state-owned People’s Bank.

As at 30 September 2015, the state entity, which was the group’s 24th largest shareholder, was observed to have held 2,710,088 shares of Asiri Hospitals, which was the amount transferred within  an hour after the floor was open for trading.

The net profit of Asiri Hospitals for the September quarter (2Q16) grew by 12.7 percent Year on Year (yoy) to Rs.261 million whereas the basic earnings per share increased marginally to Rs.0.238 from Rs.0.211 in the same period.

Revenue expanded by 13.6 percent yoy to Rs.2.39 billion.

With other income and gains, and finance income appreciating by 35.3 percent and 720 percent, the group posted a profit before tax of Rs.369 million, a 18.7 percent yoy increase.

Softlogic Holdings is the single largest shareholder of the group holding 408,264,085 shares, which is 37.15 percent of the total stake.
