More than 100 companies with 15 product verticals across industry sectors were showcased at the first-ever China Products Exhibition held recently at the Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre (SLECC).

Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, as the chief guest, ceremonially opened the event, which was organised by the China International Exhibition Centre Group (CIEC), Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers and Exporters (GCCIE), Worldex Fiera Milano, supported by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) and managed by Worldex India Exhibition & Promotion (Pvt.) Ltd.

Bathiudeen had a very special message to the Chinese delegates in his address. “Sri Lanka is not only a South Asian market for China but is a great offshore assembly hub for Chinese and Far Eastern manufacturers who are aiming for South and West Asia. Today, we invite Chinese manufacturers and industries to invest and partner with Sri Lanka, use our strategic location and obtain faster access to these Asian markets and increase your export revenues,” he said.

Chairman CNCI Tissa Seneviratne recognized the event for its ability for direct interaction between businesses. “It is more important for the Chinese suppliers to visit us during an exhibition like this. This gives them the opportunity to inspect industrial sites and recognize the exact requirements. They could also customize the products to suite our real needs. This could make a huge difference in Sri Lankan industries in purchasing better products from China,” he explained.

The exhibition displayed a wide range of products from bathroom accessories, household electronic appliances, construction materials, hardware and machine tools, lighting & LED, consumer electronics, agricultural and pest control products, food products and machinery, home appliances, hotel supplies, house ware and home decor, furniture and interior products and many more.

This will provide an excellent opportunity to Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to interact with world-class suppliers, review the latest technologies and innovations, network with industry peers and thought-leaders, expand industry knowledge and boost entrepreneurial projects.
