Open Trade Gate of Sweden wants Lankan exporters to tap Swedish market

Open Trade Gate of Sweden (OTGS), which acts as a facilitator to potential exporters to Sweden, urges Sri Lankan exporters to tap the huge potential existing in the Scandinavian market, including Sweden.
This request was made, when the officials of OTGS held a seminar under the title of ‘Exports to Sweden’ to a group of Sri Lankan exporters at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, recently.
The half a day seminar, which was facilitated by the Department of Commerce, Embassy of Sri Lanka in Sweden in association with the Ceylon Chamber, covered areas such as the services the exporters can obtained via OTGS, export procedures to be followed when exporting to Sweden and the European Union (EU) regulations and requirements.
They also highlighted the potential existing for exporters in the Swedish market, details about the Swedish imports and consumer demands, topics of special complexity, such as the rules of 
origin, certification and standards, etc.
According to OTGS Senior Official Helena Hafgren, textiles and garments, ceramics, jewellery, fruits and vegetables, tea and spices are among several items that Sri Lankan exporters can focus on exporting to Sweden.
During the seminar, OTGS Trade Policy Advisor Nesli Aimufti explained the EU trade policies and import requirements, which will have to be followed by the exporters, who intend to export to Sweden.

Sri Lanka during the year 2014 has exported around US $ 30 million worth of goods to Sweden, while it has imported US $ 45 million of goods from that country.
