Malith Mendis new Dispute Resolution Board Foundation Country Representative

Chartered Engineer Malith Mendis has been appointed as the Country Representative of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF).

The DRBF is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the avoidance and resolution of disputes worldwide using the unique and proven Dispute Resolution Board (DRB) method.

The DRBF exists to promote the DRB concept and its benefits for owners and contractors. Over 600 members with representatives in 31 countries are involved in the preservation and growth of the DRB process.

While the origins of dispute review boards are found in the construction industry, their ambit is far wider than construction and dispute review boards are now found in the financial services industry, maritime industry, long-term concession projects, operational and maintenance contracts.

The scope for dispute review boards is substantial. The emergence of the International Chamber of Commerce as an active supporter of dispute boards, as well as the Dispute Board Federation and Dispute Resolution Board Foundation, makes it highly probable that dispute boards will be established in a range of industries that, until now, have not used adjudication to any great extent.
