Lotteries Board donates Rs.10mn to National Kidney Fund

The National Lotteries Board handed over to Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake a cheque for Rs.10 million to be deposited in the National Kidney Fund.

The National Kidney Fund was established in line with the sustainable programme to control kidney disease, according to a concept of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The National Lotteries Board on the instruction of Karunanayake launched a new lottery under the name of ‘Niroga’ recently and its first draw was held in July. The lottery has received the fullest support of the people of Sri Lanka and as a result, the Lotteries Board was able to present this amount of Rs.10 million as revenue accrued from the lottery sale.

National Lotteries Board Chairperson Attorney-at-Law Shyamila Perera handed over the cheque to Karunanayake at a ceremony held at the Finance Ministry recently. Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samarathunghe and General Manager Nalaka Kaluwawewa were also present at the occasion.
