Intex South Asia marks debut in Colombo

Sri Lanka takes pride in hosting South Asia’s 1st International Apparel Fabric & Accessories Trade Fair – Intex South Asia 2015 which was declared opened by State Minister of International Trade, Sujeewa Senasinghe at the Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre, Colombo. 

The Chairperson & Chief Executive of EDB, Indira Malwatte also graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Minister Senasinghe recognized the event to be a timely happening with much importance to the Sri Lankan economy in his address during the opening of exhibition. The apparel industry in Sri Lanka has developed its quality and it is time to focus on quantity for which these type of events will contribute effectively, the Minister also commented.

Beauno Fernando (Chairman of Fabric & Apparel Accessory Manufacturers’ Association), Indradatta Dharmawardane (President of Sri Lanka Apparel Brand Association), Anil Wettewe (Chairman of Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association), Saif Jafferjee (Chairman of Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association) and Azeem Ismail (Chairman of Joint Apparel Association Forum) were among the distinguish gathering present at the ceremonial opening of Intex South Asia 2015.

Opened for business on 16 & 17 of November with the participation of around 120 exhibitors from 11 countries, it is the first fair in South Asia catering exclusively for manufacturers from the Asian market that would surely bridge the gap between global buyers and South Asian suppliers. It presents a carefully-selected group of high-quality Asian companies with a wide range of 100 percent  made-in-Asia textile and accessories. Intex South Asia 2015 is organized by Worldex India and co-organized by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).
