House will be kept informed about Mobitel-Hutch deal: Harin

Parliament will be kept informed of the planned purchase of Hutch mobile phone service provider by Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) subsidiary Mobitel, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando said yesterday.

Minister Fernando who was responding to an oral question raised by Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who requested details of the deal.
The Minister said a committee of experts has been appointed to look into the viability of the deal and iformation will be provided on the deal as per the proceedings. 

He also said that two new directors have been appointed to the SLT board and it will be finalised later.
