HNB Assurance fame Manjula to head NITF

Former HNB Assurance PLC and HNB General Insurance Managing Director Manjula de Silva has been appointed the Chairman of National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) with effect from April 6, 2015 by the Ministry of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs.
Manjula de Silva had his primary and secondary education at Royal College. Thereafter he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Hons) degree from University of Colombo and Master of Business Administration from London Business School, UK. 
He is also a FCMA (UK) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). 
Previously, he has held the post of Director General of Public Enterprises Reforms Commission (PERC) of Sri Lanka. 
He has been a Committee Member and Chairman – Steering Committee on Insurance of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. He is also currently serving as the Deputy Chairman of CIMA Sri Lanka Division. He is a Past President of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) and the Unit Trust Association of Sri Lanka (UTASL). 
He will be leading the National Insurance Trust Fund - the sole national reinsurer, to achieve its objectives such as expanding the reinsurance business of NITF, managing the Strike, Riot, Civil Commotion and Terrorism (SRCC & T) Fund effectively and efficiently expanding NITF’s welfare oriented insurance schemes stated in its Act to reach its vision of being a “Safety net and a provider of protection for all needy sectors”.
