Over the years, the store brand has evolved into the present-day Dilly & Carlo, and acts as a universal symbol for contemporary style essentials for men and women of all age-groups and tastes. The individual brands unique to the Dilly & Carlo store include, Dilly’s Voyages, Dilly’s Formal, The Moods Collection, Tammy, Carlo and Carlo Boy.
The ancient art of story-telling has existed for as long as time itself, with folktales being told to wide-eyed children by loving elders. The folktales encapsulated an entire culture’s values, beliefs and habits in the form of amusing and endearing narrative. However, the folktales served a much higher purpose, apart from comic entertainment. Interwoven into these folktales were the very fabric of cultural identity, passed down from generation to generation, in order to groom the impressionable young children for societal life in the future.
At Dilly’s, we strive to keep the ancient art of story-telling alive, and were truly inspired by the enchanting folk tales of Sri Lanka, and used the loving and moral-filled stories as the foundation for the Avurudhu season Batik Collection. Each of these lovingly crafted garments represents an intricate story in itself, with stunning prints and classic shapes transforming you into the heroine of your own story
The mind of a child is a truly extraordinary, it is one brimming with inquisitiveness and eagerness. A vital component of growing up is made up of the toys surrounding childhood, and we believe that the ancient hand-made toys such as the ‘Kos kola Otunna’ and miniature windmills made of coconut tree leaves symbolize the simplicity and unbounding imagination of a child. The very act of building from scratch, dismantling and re-building serve to instill strong concepts persistence, cognitive abilities and creativity. We at Dilly’s, have hand-crafted these nostalgic toys and placed them within our showrooms, along with intricately designed miniature models of some of the most inspiring folktales. Do stop by our flagship store at Dilly & Carlo along with the whole family, and come share the love of traditional folktales, and help keep this art form alive!”
