Customs chief resigns

Jagath P. Wijeweera has resigned from his position as the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs.
“The Customs Director General gave me his letter of resignation today,” Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.
He expressed that the letter was given due to personal reasons.
Wijeweera was appointed to the post in 2012.
Since the change of regime, the Customs Department has been collecting over Rs.2.5 billion daily, while earlier, the amount stood at around Rs.1 billion.
