CTC dethrones JKH

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC), a unit of British American Tobacco, yesterday dethroned John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) as Sri Lanka’s most valuable listed company, adding excitement to an otherwise lacklustre market. 

During yesterday’s trading, the CTC share gained 0.19 percent or Rs.1.80 to take the crown from JKH, whose share fell 2.25 percent or Rs.3.60 to close at Rs.156.30. The CTC share closed at Rs.962.50.

At the end of yesterday’s trading, CTC’s market capitalization stood at Rs.180.3 billion, representing 7.16 percent of the entire market, while JKH’s market capitalization stood at Rs.178.2 billion, representing 7.08 percent. 

CTC has 187.3 million shares in issue while JKH has 1.14 billion shares in issue.

The third most valuable company in the Colombo bourse was Nestle Lanka PLC with the market cap of Rs.107.4 billion or 4.27 percent.
