Ceylon Chamber’s YBSL trains budding entrepreneurs

The Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka recently trained over 230 budding entrepreneurs on the finer skills of entrepreneurship under the ‘Promoting and Empowering the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs’ project, which is carried jointly by the two institutions.

Accordingly, three separate training programmes were held covering the Polonnaruwa, Matara and Kandy Districts and the participants were imparted with the knowledge of administration, financial management, market identification, managerial issues and strategies and policy framework (tax, audit, registration). 
Accordingly, 86 entrepreneurs from the Polonnaruwa District, 90 from Matara and 50 entrepreneurs from the Nawalapitiya Divisional Secretariat took part in the training programmes.

The entrepreneurs who underwent training are engaged in businesses such as brick making, carpentry, producing and marketing spices, tailoring and construction. The programme also found entrepreneurs engaged in businesses such as operating hair salons, garages, blacksmith workshops, wholesale and retail trade, welding, astrology and restaurants, etc.
