Cargills Food City outlets to facilitate foreign remittance transactions

Cargills Bank, a subsidiary of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, has launched a facility to allow the receiving of foreign remittances through Cargills Food City outlets.
Any person above the age of 18 could send money from abroad, while the receiver should be in possession of a valid national identity card, driver’s license or a passport.

There is no minimum transactional value, while the remittances could be sent through Cargills Bank’s partners Xpress Money or Cash Express. Remittances could be obtained between 8.00am and 10.00am from the 270 Cargills Food City outlets which are open 365 days, or from the 3 Cargills Bank branches. 
During the launch period, a 5 percent discount is given on a grocery bill on the day of a remittance withdrawal.
Meanwhile, Mirror Business learns that Central Bank has provisionally given approval to Cargills to open Cargills Bank branches at Cargills Food City outlets island wide.
