The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) together with its Faculty of Taxation will felicitate the newly appointed Inland Revenue Department Commissioner General Kalyani Dahanayake at a ceremony which will be attended by chartered accountants, tax professionals and senior officers of the department.
Felicitating a new Inland Revenue Commissioner General is a customary practice of CA Sri Lanka in its capacity as the national accounting body, as it works closely with the Inland Revenue Department. Both CA Sri Lanka and the department work jointly to enhance and improve the taxation structure of the country.
Dahanayake assumed duties in March this year as the 22nd Commissioner General and is one of the most senior officers attached to the department and is the fifth woman Commissioner General to be appointed. She commands over 33 years of service in the department after joining the department in 1981 as an Assessor.
The CA Sri Lanka Faculty of Taxation was established in 1995 to assist members, particularly those in practice to further their knowledge in taxation, to share their constructive suggestions towards the enhancement and implementation of tax legislation. The faculty conducts various courses targeted at professionals and practitioners to further their knowledge in the subject.
