Budget - 2016 dates amended for parliamentary program

The parliamentary programme for the Budget 2016 which was approved at the previous meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers has now been amended on a  proposal made by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
Accordingly, as per the amendment the number of days allocated for both the 2nd reading and the 3rd reading has now been reduced to 24 days from the earlier schedule of 26 days.
The amended programme is as follows.
(i)    Presentation of the Appropriation Bill 2016 (First Reading) – 23-10-2015 
(ii)    Budget Speech (Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill) – 20-11-2015 
(iii)    Second Reading debate (Twelve allotted days from 21-11-2015)
(iv)    Second Reading Division – 05-12-2015, earlier it had been scheduled for December 08.
(v)    Committee Stage Debate (Twelve allotted days from 07-12-2015)
(vi)    Third Reading Division – 19-12-2015 earlier it was proposed to take place on December 22nd.
