University of Wales MBA Society to be launched tomorrow

The official launch of the University of Wales MBA Society will be held on 28th May at the Kingsbury Hotel and will gather a large crowd of distinguished and notable individuals holding the University of Wales MBA. 
The guest speakers for the night will be Kishu Gomes- Managing Director Chevron Lubricants Lanka and Dr. Gehan Dhameeth who is serving as the Assistant Professor of Business and Chair of the Business Program at Wells College, Aurora, New York. They will speak on the theme titled “the importance of a scholar’s contribution towards a fast growing economy in Sri Lanka in the new era”.
This glamorous event is showcased under the theme “Encoro” (a wordplay on “encouragement and encore”) – towards a scholarly society; and will be attended by professionals and high flyers in the business community. Come join us for a night filled with Latin dancing, DJ music, and a scrumptious buffet dinner with cocktails throughout the event. You’ll get to network, share stories, and experiences with individuals hailing from a wide spectrum in the business world.
The vision of the society is to set a high standard for the Sri Lankan business community to build a platform of professionals for networking, to add value to the business education gained, creating a community of like-minded professionals to come together to enhance and grow individually, as well as enrich society at large. 
The first Annual General Meeting which was held on the 16th February 2016 unanimously elected Nalinda Jayalath as the President for the forthcoming year. The other office bearers elected at the AGM were Lasantha Waduge- Deputy President, Akalanka Yatiwelle- Secretary, Ilaciyah Pushparajah - Deputy Secretary, Neomal Perera- Treasurer, Thepul Isuru- Deputy Treasurer. The Executive Committee Members appointed were Prashan Dassanaeike, Bhagya Iddamalgoda, Prathme Rabeshen, Namal Fernando, Kelaa Nizam, Hifnaz Jeffrey and Malkan Cader with Dushinka Nelson as the Legal Advisor and Ruwan Weerasinghe as the Personal Relationship Official.
Following the official launch, the society aims to create maximum visibility by organizing regular networking/ social events, forums, industry insights through panel discussions and seminars. There are also plans to launch an official University of Wales MBA Membership Card offering discounts and offers exclusive to 
card holders. 
As the founding committee with members working in diverse disciplines ranging from finance, management, marketing, IT, corporate governance, HR and administration the society aims to serve the best interests of the University of Wales MBA holders.  Nalinda Jayalath, President of the Executive Committee University of Wales MBA Society-Sri Lankan Chapter said “We look forward to embarking on a journey together with its main stakeholders, the University of Wales’ alumni, present and future students, along with the University of Wales and IIHE administration and officials to make this launch and the society a tremendous success”.
