The United Colors of Benetton Fall Winter 2016 is all about vibrant, colourful clothes and easy-to-wear pieces for everyone that mix the hottest trends of the season with the iconic Italian brand’s quirky, cosmopolitan vibe.
The men and women’s ranges feature clean, contemporary lines with on-trend stripes in vibrant navy blue and bright red wool and cotton woven in different weights and darts on the hips for a perfect fit. It is cool, clean, wear-all-day fashion mixed with distressed and skinny denim.
Autumn/Winter 2016 sees a return to the active look with young, casual accents, this season rocking a new minimalist vibe in basic colours with fluoro touches and technical fabrics layered over denim.
Fine long-sleeve tops are oversized and stretchy in bold hues from peachy-pink to electric blue while geometric intarsia or free-hand designs liven up sweat tops, t-shirts, shirts and zip sweaters. The waterproof mini parka with drawstring and ruffle is super feminine and practical.
The oriental garden theme was a natural choice, a nod to one of the season’s biggest trends. Tops in streamlined shapes bearing cherry blossom and Zen garden prints look east to Japan; United Colors of Benetton uses the same petal theme for everyday glamour, mixing Liberty prints with classic florals that are either big and bold or ditsy, laying flowers over stripes or playing with a riot of colours and prints for women, or more classy stripes and checks
for men.
A wanderlust theme also emerges in both men and women’s collections; the desire to travel emerges in the mix of patterns, from optical to ethno-chic patchwork and in the deep colours used in tops, shirts, kurtis and dresses.
Setting off this mood and creating a crisp, urban look is an eclectic form of maximalism made up of lightweight wool and linen, chevron prints, maxi stripes and layers, jazzing up even the simplest of t-shirts. The pinched-waist mini-dress with hip detail is both feminine and cool.
