The Cabinet of Ministers granted approval for state-owned SriLankan Airlines to move ahead with awarding ground handling service agents’ contracts at Bangkok International Airport and London Heathrow International Airport for a three-year period.

Accordingly, Bangkok Flight Services Institute, which is a joint venture between Worldwide Flight Services and Bangkok Airways, secured a three-year contract to provide ground handling service for the national carrier at the Bangkok Airport.

Meanwhile, Danata, part of Emirates Group, was awarded the contract for passenger and aircraft lift handling service and Worldwide Flight Services Limited, one of the world’s leading ground handling organisations owned by the US-based private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, secured the cargo handling service contract at London Heathrow International Airport
for the period.

The proposals were presented by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, as per the recommendations of the Cabinet-Appointed Standing Procurement Committee.
