Sri Lanka’s longest railway bridge nearing completion

Only three more girders have to be placed for the initial completion of Sri Lanka’s longest railway bridge which is being constructed on the Matara   Beliatta extension of the island s Southern Railway line. The 6.2 meter wide 1.5 kilometer long single line railway bridge between Akurubebila and Waththegama is referred to as the Watttegama Bridge and rests on 59 pier stems including the two ends.
