29 November 2021 08:55 am

The upcoming Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021, the foremost and most anticipated economic event of Sri Lanka, will host a line-up of contemporary dialogues under this year’s theme ‘Springboard for revival: Opportunity to reset’.

Day two of the event will feature a session dedicated to ‘Survival to Recovery: Reviving Tourism Inflows’, on December 7, 2021.

As international travel recommences, emerging from the pandemic with the reopening of borders, the increasing pace of vaccination and accompanying economic recovery, this session will look at how destinations are gearing up for post-pandemic travel beyond the initial pent-up demand. What can we learn from countries that have reopened successfully? How do we rethink our strategies in promoting Sri Lanka as a tourism destination and implementing the much sought-after tourism marketing campaign? Can the industry go back to a US $ 4 billion+ earning industry and beyond?

The presenter at this plenary will be McKinsey & Company Partner Steve Saxon. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairperson Kimarli Fernando, Thailand Travel Impact Newswire Executive Editor Imtiaz Muqbil, Emirates Area Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives Chandana de Silva, eMarketingEye CEO Rajitha Dahanayake and TripAdvisor Group Head Media Partnerships APAC Sarah Mathews will join the panel discussion. The session will be moderated by Jetwing Travels Chairman Shiromal Cooray.

Participants have the opportunity to register online from https://chamber.lk for the entire two-day summit or choose the sessions they wish to attend. The chamber looks forward to delivering a unique, digitally transformed experience to all participants in addition to in-person participation at Shangri-La Colombo this year.
