Santani, Sri Lanka’s first purpose-built luxury wellness resort, has been featured in Travel + Leisure’s coveted 2017 It List of the best new hotels around the world.
The 2017 It List, which selected only 44 hotels worldwide, was compiled after extensive study of newly opened hotels by Travel + Leisure’s wide network of editors and contributors. The complete list is available at www.tandl.me/itlist.
Travel + Leisure Editor in Chief Nathan Lump said that every year its editors and contributors vet the most exciting debuts around the globe to create this highly selective list and this honour is a testament to the fact that Santani delivered a product and experience that stood out with its editors in what is fast becoming an even more competitive
hotel landscape.
Travel + Leisure is a magazine for sophisticated travellers, serving up expert intelligence and immersive inspiring travel lifestyle content.
It is owned and published by Time Inc. in New York City.
Santani’s inclusion in Travel + Leisure’s It List for 2017 is the latest in a string of accolades that the resort has accumulated from the leisure industry since its opening last year.
Santani CEO Vickum Nawagamuwage added, “We are honoured to be on this list as it features only one hotel from Sri Lanka and only nine from all of Asia. To be recognized alongside Aman Resorts, St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, Oberoi and Four Seasons among others is a testament to Santani’s strategy of creating a
global brand.
The addition of Santani on to this list, is clearly establishing the resort as the most exciting property in the luxury space and also the first entrant into the luxury wellness space in Sri Lanka.
Santani, which features a state-of-the-art spa, a range of wellness programmes coupled with personalized world-class gourmet cuisine, is set in an idyllic 48-acre former tea plantation one hour away from Kandy.
The property was also featured as one of the top destination spas in the world, according to an additional feature from Travel + Leisure a few weeks ago.
Santani is pioneering wellness tourism and establishing Sri Lanka as the next big wellness tourism destination. According to Vogue magazine, “in 2017, we’ll also see Sri Lanka emerge as the next hot wellness escape, ranking up there with India, California and Thailand, thanks to forward-thinking retreats like Santani”.
The resort has previously been featured in Condé Nast Traveller, Robb Report, Travel + Style, Vogue, the Luxury Travel Expert, Yonder and Luxury
Lifestyle Magazine.
