Ravi leaves for SAARC FinMin Summit in Pakistan

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake will leave for Pakistan today to participate in the eighth South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Finance Ministers Summit to be held in Islamabad on August 26.
In addition to the SAARC finance ministers, several officials in the finance sectors from the member countries will also participate in the summit.
Several trade issues including the regional cooperation in economic affairs and investment opportunities are top on the agenda of the 2016 summit. At the same time, the summit will evaluate the set agreements and targets during the previous summit of SAARC Financial Ministers held in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2015.
Karunanayake will be accompanied by Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga and a group of representatives from the Foreign Resources Department.
