Top professional Ranel T. Wijesinha is tipped to be appointed as the new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman, Mirror Business learns.

Wijesinha served as a Commissioner in the previous Commission headed by Thilak Karunaratne.

Through a recent gazette, President Maithripala Sirisena removed the SEC from National Policies and Economic Affairs Ministry run by Prime Minister Ranil Wikcremesinghe and placed it under the Finance and Mass Media Ministry run by Mangala Samaraweera.

Wijesingha’s appointment is likely to be made after the impending Cabinet reshuffle.
